Essex started changing politically in recent years since the pandemic. This is when all the woke nonsense infiltrated our public services and local authorities on a massive scale. It was like a social covid contagion of its own. Pretty soon everyone got trapped into it. While the majority of the public here do not agree with the woke nonsense or are even aware of it completely.
How did it happen then? Remote working, local authorities and other public sectors opening up remote working which meant out of county people could work here. Worst move. This should never be allowed. But then a wave of London workers moved to Essex because they could do their own London jobs from Essex without having to pay high prices. This not only increased the property prices here but also brought in a lot of metropolitan liberal mentality. Most of these eventually started working with Essex. And then there were transfer of jobs as well into the local authorities of Essex.
All of this brought into being the creation of many Diversity and Inclusion groups within private and public sector. Which would have happened regardless. But in Essex most of them were being initiated and headed by London residents. No idea about Essex, about the residents of Essex, but here they are now driving "social change" and "social justice".
This is a serious problem here now in Essex. And it needs to be taken seriously. All the Conservative MPs of Essex were high profile ones, involved in cabinet and what not. Not paying attention to what was going on in their own backyard. These people betrayed the residents of this county. There was for a long time only a little Lib Dem presence and almost no Labour. 54 of the 75 councillors were Tory, and all MPs were Tory. Yet they have managed to weave their way through. By building houses on top of houses, making some affordable houses for London residents specifically, and other new builds being too expensive anyway but proving to be cheaper for London residents to move, all towns with train connections now filled with them. This London encroachment into Essex has been going for far too long, and it has to stop.
It is good that Farage is standing from Clacton in Essex, because we need some kind of fight back. It would have been better for them to have stood some of their other high profile candidates here as well. I imagine Ben Habib would have won an Essex seat quite comfortably. But either way. The fight back needs to start. We cannot let them turn every commuter town and consequently the county into an anywhere locality for anywhere people. Essex is not bereft of history and heritage. It is not a plaything for these woke luvvies.
Valid points. Much the same in Devon and I am sure across the country.
We pay extortionate community charge here in my village and all I see in real terms for nearly £3000 a year is my bin emptied sporadically and and two street lights.
We can expect at least there to be bums on seats in council offices.
Its a joke, and it still shuts down at lunch time on a Friday like to used to when council office workers cleared off early to beat the traffic.
Mass protest. Non co operation. Storm the Bastille.
