Farage doesn't have the ability to unite the right or unite the country. Always been my way or the highway with him. You are either in the gang or out of the gang, and are definitely not allowed to criticise the cult leader. The reluctance to democratise the party shows you all you need to know about him. That is all what Ben Habib was really asking for from the start, along with on the ground campaigning.
Reform brand has been building despite all the unnecessary damage being done by Farage and Tice, even by consistently alienating huge proportion of their voter base - although not sustainable in the long run. Not opening up the party to its members is a huge red flag in my opinion.
I think Reform is going to tank themselves the same way UKIP and Brexit Party did, and the factor is the same, and the personality is the same doing it. It is like a Mourinho football team pattern, 3 years win people things, and then all goes pear shaped, no long term planning no succession planning. Just wham bam thank you ma'am.
And for people saying, no we must still back Reform because there is no other option: You are saying that because you don't want to put in the hardwork. You don't want to actually find out how the system works or be invested in the governance and policies. You just want some personality to follow and take away your responsibility of actually being aware and active in your community. If you are not going to take interest then people will lead you this way or that for their benefit. The change starts with you - and if you are not willing to put in the work then don't expect others to do it.
I hope Ben Habib starts something himself along with people of the right mentality. Whether it be a think tank pressure group or even a political party or joining one to take over. I would be far more interested in such a venture because I know it won't be a personality cult. And it will give people a proper voice and option. I would offer my help and support to that more than Reform under Farage would ever get from me.
And no, it is not dividing the right. The right is already divided and Farage has no intention of uniting it. So, it is time to build something for the future. Remember the idea of saving the country and making it prosperous should not be just focused on ourselves - it should be more focused on making it better for our children and their children. So, if we have to suffer in the meanwhile to make it better for them, and ensure that we do make it better for them, then it is worth the struggle and suffering. We must endure for the right reasons to help the future generations prosper.
