Introducing Myself

For those following me, below are things you should know. I have been very clear on them so it's not my fault if you follow me while taking personal issues with any of these points:

1. I don't think Islam belongs in the West, and I would prefer it didn't belong anywhere. And no, I am not just talking about Islamism. I am talking about the whole thing.

2. I am not an atheist. Currently I would classify myself as a Christian Deist and I favour Christianity a lot. However I also think there is wisdom to be taken from other old religions as well. Whether you agree or not, that is up to you. But don't come knocking on my door thinking I am pro atheism in any shape or form.

3. Politically I no longer associate with any hint on the left side of politics as a wholesale endorsement. I am more on the conservative side. But overall, even using the political system we currently have, and supporting the parties on the right, I prefer if we moved away to a different governance system. I favour a way, a new way, combining elective monarchy and local democracy without political parties.

4. No. I do not support the Reform party in its current form. The only person I support from that party is Ben Habibi because he wants what their own leadership doesn't. I hope they change and engage more with local democracy and policy building, and opening up their party to be democratized rather than being run as a private limited company. But having a Muslim chairman I feel they are not serious about tackling the issue of Islam beyond the “Islamists are extremists” and “There are many good Muslims” and “My moderate Muslim friend is a nice chap”. This shows they don’t understand the core problem.

5. Yes, I have an academic mind. I love studying and learning, and if I could I would like to get more degrees. But I do not like liberal academics who are stuck too far up their own behind. I prefer the company of real people.

6. I love exploring other cultures and take interest in it. I just find British culture to be the best but doesn't mean I can't enjoy the rest as well.

7. I love my wife. And without a doubt she is the most important person in my life. Everyone comes second. Including myself.

8. I am not afraid of sharing my ideas and thoughts. We are humans with a mind and we should use it to enhance ourselves not to restrict each other's speech. If you don't like something that someone says, then ignore them, don't engage with them, remove them from your circle. But you do not control them. I abhor people who try to control others.

9. If you engage in good faith I will engage with you if I can. I generally do not like anonymous accounts but I understand why some people need to have them. I really don't think we should be hiding ourselves. I won't interact with you on the street if you are all covered up like those ninja hijabis. It doesn't build trust. But I understand the reasons why some do it online.

10. I value my relationships with friends and family. And if you come after them then you come after me as well. I am not one to talk behind their backs. For relevance of recent example, I consider TR a friend so don't be coming to me behind the scenes saying this or that about him as if it's true. I don't take kindly to such bitchy low testosterone behaviour.

11. I don't care about money. As long as I have enough to provide for those around me. That is enough. I am a man of simple pleasures.

12. I love food. And I love to cook as well, which is why my wife rarely gets to cook in our home. I think exploring different cultures through their food and the history of specific ingredients and recipes is utterly fascinating. Might be the best way to explore cultures.

PS: I love drinking Earl Grey. I think I might be addicted. But I don't care.
