No. You gave more power to OFCOM quango. The Conservatives were supposed to shutdown quangos but instead you all continued the Blairite project. This is why I don't trust any of the liberal Tories and Reform who are filtering them in.
I doubt she has even read the 225 Bill that she sponsored. But how can you trust these people when they come up with these ridiculous things, and how can you trust Reform when they keep including them. I guess its no surprise that Farage during COVID times saw a possibility of Blair being back in a government position as appealing - he advocated for it. Doesn’t matter if he later took it back as a misguided mistake. But the fact that in his mind the image of Blair does not scream “the enemy within” shows you all you need to know about Farage.
The man is incapable of thinking deep or beyond his populism. Anything to get him power. Oh once we have power then we can do things. You don’t know what to do when you don’t have power and you will only make things worse when you do have power. Next year, I am sure, he will finally include Boris Johnson in the party as well. Reform will become the home of liberal Tories, Liberal Democrat 2.0 at this rate.
Reform only has plans for doing the bare minimum, everything else they will not put in their manifesto, let their Reform ultras keep repeating to others, we want power and once we have power then we can make changes. Well, if you don’t put it in your manifesto then you will be blocked, and you can’t put it in your manifesto because then you will lose the support of your liberal contingent. Already made a rod for yourself. But fear not, Farage can play the victim as always, he will “fight” for those things and when House of Lords strike him down, he will rally the cry to bring them down. He will cry out to his supporters, look I am trying to do what you want but they are stopping me, its not me its them. Another battle to fight which could be won before it started. But that would mean him actually doing something and that isn’t his thing.
No, its pretty clear now, he will not bring the change. And he will make it impossible for others in the party to bring the change as well later on, as Reform will become a victim of audience capture, with their audience being increasingly liberal. The new uniparty it seems will take the shape of Reform and Liberal Democrats, and the establishment will continue without any serious damage to its order. What a sorry state of affairs.
No. I rather back Advance UK, so at least we can have some pressure group and some voice in the parliament, that holds the Tories and Reform to account. And might have some chance of trouncing them as they score own goals.
This is the same vibe I am getting from some of the younger elements on the political right/conservative side as well, even those who disagree with Reform. Once we are in power narrative. Attaining power is the goal. Just like the marxists and the fascists. We are the good guys and it doesn’t matter how we get power because once we get it we can set the rules.
Becoming so power hungry can corrupt you and your mission statement. Your objective should not be to get into power, your objective to be to set things right and save your civilisation from destruction. Do things the right way, show people a better way, conduct yourself and exhibit your values, make your side of the argument attractive enough so that it brings about the cultural revolution which puts you in power with a mandate to do what needs to be done with that power. If you are only going to go for power, misleading people, trying to be the fox, then when you come into power you will face extreme opposition from the public, and it will lead you to take more and more authoritarian positions and actions.
That will be more destructive to your side of the argument than if you never got power. And this is why I am not in favour of letting children lead political or cultural movements, because they truly do not understand the consequences of their desires and actions. The problem is we have many overaged children in our society these days.
Well said Momus.
Farage commissions ships and then pilots them onto the rocks and leaves the crew to fend for themselves.
He is no practical leader and
he hates Nationalists.
Reform supporters like to think has has a cunning plan up his sleeve and when he is in power you'll see.......
Aptly nick named "Mirage" you think you see it, you WANT to see it and you convince yourself it is real.
It is not . Just an illusion .
