Why I don't think things will ever drastically change in Britain?
People in the UK do not understand the true value of freedom
A majority of people in this country lean centre left even though socially they might be conservative. They also seem to have a lot of tendency towards big state, welfarism, and requiring high levels of protection from the state. They also tend to be more in favour of nationalising a lot of services - again giving more power to the state to feel more secure from having to properly regulate and monitor competition in the market.
Unless there is a reasonable effort made to change this mindset, the ideas of true freedom for citizens will always fall on deaf ears in the end. And nothing will change. A reason why people who call themselves conservatives still are very much in favour of all welfare statism and will never even fathom the idea of the public being given the legal right to bear arms. This scares the hell out of them. That used to be pretty common in England. Because the government is supposed to take care of them. So they don’t have to take the risks. Compared to the history of England this notion is a pretty recent invention into the social mindset.
Freedom has consequences that are worth taking. In the case of the public being at least allowed a moderate level of self protection instruments, the state has declared no to even pepper spray, we will take care of you. Well not all the bloody time and not very well indeed. And who will then protect the public from you? When you prohibit the right to bear arms - None of the law abiding citizens have the means of protecting themselves but all the non-law abiding criminals still have such things in their possession. Who is put under more risk then?
The same is with words and right to speak freely. Those on the political left want protection for all their senses. They are too afraid to be a responsible adult. They want protection from hurty words even now. They are willing to be made slaves if it means they won't have to think for themselves and the state will protect them.
I saw this play out 4 years ago during covid times. How extraordinarily compliant the majority of the people were. And how angry they were at those who questioned the nonsensical rules and regulations around it. They wanted them fired even from their jobs for asking questions. I knew then there was a huge problem in the society. For 4 years now I have encountered stagnation in my career because of speaking out. It is not that people are now awake of the lies about covid. They might be. But their fundamental attitudes and behaviours haven't changed. Give them something else and they will once again fall into compliance.
This is why I don't personally think there will be any successful "revolt" unless it comes from a centre left perspective. Which won't be a call for freedom but a call for some other protection where the government might be failing. Even when it comes to farmers. It will be about farmers need more subsidies and so on, and they need more protection. So the state should provide that. Never a call for - lets remove taxes for them and give them more freedom. With everything you will see the same tendency. This is why you will also see Reform reaching its ceiling unless they appeal to the centre left - hence the reluctance to join the cultural movement on the TR side of things. I seriously do not think anything of importance will change in this country, and eventually centre right will take hold and make some strict decisions around immigration and illegal migrants, but retain all the socialist aspects that will be enshrined into law because they will be in favour of it.
I am giving myself around 2 years to see how things pan out, and then a decision will be made to protect our personal livelihood and future of our family. It will be hard decision to make either way - but one that I might be pushed to make against my heart.
..."the right to bear arms " right to protect yourself, family and survival.
Basic human rights,.. praying for everything possible to change for all of you.
