Very succinct appraisal but to restore some faith in Christianity and its precepts we must have faith in the validity of our Church leaders.
With the Church Of England massive damage has been done by Welby today and his ilk.
I would hate to see the loss of our Parish Churches or worse their conversion to Mosques as done recently in Stoke on Trent. There is no graver insult to our religion, but perhaps it is a picture of what is happening in this country and a red warning at present largely unheeded.
Perhaps Christianity in the country needs go beyond the C of E but it seems that the Roman Catholic faith is as bad or worse.
If we are to seek Christ then his ministers in this country need a massive shake up. A bit like our MPs
who have also forgotten what they should truly represent.
Faith is not in churches, it is within hearts of men who then build churches. I understand what you are saying, but the reason why Church of England has failed is not because of the church itself but because we thought only they need to believe for us to preserve the faith. CoE would not have gone astray if people were more active in that respect. There is a better alternative at the moment though, the Free Church of England. Hopefully in time it can grow and have more influence nationally.
Yes that is true but the Parish Churches are Church of England and these buildings have been the focal points in our communities for hundreds of years and the symbols of Christian faith for generations.
We can of course be Christian without them as the various sects of British Christians show. For many of us there is one primary church and most people were always Cof E..
The decline of Christianity has been hastened in part due to the absence of bible teaching and Christian assemblies at school. Abandoned in many cases so as not to offend other faiths. The whole concept was wrong.
The Christian spirit is the essential but to see our ancient Church building decline is like kicking our traditions and our ancestry in the face .
It is more than kick in the teeth. It wounds me deeply to see them being abandoned or turned into mosques. But maybe we need to back The Free Church of England enough so it starts buying these churches. Who knows. But for anything to happen, we need a revival within. That is important.
