Some Standard Islamic Edicts with References - Incompatible with the West
The incompatibility of Islam with the West - know them before endorsing them.
Some of the standard things Muslims believe in according to Islam. These are not fringe fundamentalist beliefs, these are what all good Muslims should adhere to or support. They cannot go against these edicts:
1. Apostacy should face severe consequences, death in many views, at least ostracization in others. Apostasy in Islam refers to when a Muslim becomes a disbeliever by saying a clear statement to that effect, or by uttering words which imply that disbelief, or he does something that implies that disbelief.
Or as I like to call it - Islam’s return policy - you buy it, you don’t like = I KILL YOU !!!
Hadith of Prophet according to Al-Bukhari:
“It is not permissible to shed the blood of a Muslim who bears witness that there is no god except Allah and that I am His Messenger, except in one of three cases: a soul for a soul (i.e., in the case of murder); a married man who commits adultery; and one who leaves his religion and splits from the jama’ah (main group of Muslims).”
2. The first point, applies for those who leave Islam for another religion as well.
Another Hadith of Prophet narrated by Al-Bukhari:
“Whoever changes his religion, execute him.”
3. If you are gay and practice your sexuality, you should face severe consequences - death in most cases, at least ostracization from society in others. As Allah says in Al-Araf:
"and (We sent) Lot when he said to his people: What! Do you commit an indecency which anyone in the world has not done before you? most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are an extravagant people. and the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves)."
4. It is okay to marry young girls, as long as they have had their first period. Arrange marriages can be done pre-puberty, with consummation of marriage withheld till puberty. Moh'd married Aisha when she was 6 and consummated the marriage when she was 9. However, most scholars believe that the marriage should wait till puberty:
"It is not permissible for a father to marry off his young daughter unless she has reached puberty and given her permission."
5. Cousin marriages are allowed.
As said in Al-Ahzab:
"O Prophet! We have made lawful for you your wives to whom you have paid their ˹full˺ dowries as well as those ˹bondwomen˺ in your possession, whom Allah has granted you. And ˹you are allowed to marry˺ the daughters of your paternal uncles and aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles and aunts, who have emigrated like you. Also ˹allowed for marriage is˺ a believing woman who offers herself to the Prophet ˹without dowry˺ if he is interested in marrying her—˹this is˺ exclusively for you, not for the rest of the believers. We know well what ˹rulings˺ We have ordained for the believers in relation to their wives and those ˹bondwomen˺ in their possession. As such, there would be no blame on you. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
6. Inheritance: The male gets twice the share of the female. If the heirs are women, more than two, they receive two thirds of the estate. If only one daughter is left, she gets one half.
7. For a man, polygamy is permissible. A man can have up to 4 wives. A woman cannot. As said in An-Nisa:
"If you fear you might fail to give orphan women their ˹due˺ rights ˹if you were to marry them˺, then marry other women of your choice—two, three, or four. But if you are afraid you will fail to maintain justice, then ˹content yourselves with˺ one or those ˹bondwomen˺ in your possession. This way you are less likely to commit injustice."
8. Disciplining wife, by physical means is allowed.
As Allah says in the Quran: "If you fear highhandedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them."
9. Muslims are specifically told not to be allies to Christians and Jews, as said in An-Nisa:
"O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allāh guides not the wrongdoing people."
Which obviously leads to the question, can they ever be loyal to a non-Muslim King or government? Well, the answer is no. But hey, let’s give them citizenships anyway. So when they work against us, we can’t even deport them. Great idea.
As said in An-Nisa:
“And never will Allaah grant to the disbelievers a way (to triumph) over the believers”
According to many prominent Islamic scholars: if the laws within a non-Muslim country go against what Allah has ordained, Muslims are not permitted to endorse or follow them.
This goes completely against the oaths taken to obtain citizenships, especially in Britain, and the pledge taken after the oath:
“I will give my loyalty to the United Kingdom and respect its rights and freedoms. I will uphold its democratic values. I will observe its laws faithfully and fulfil my duties and obligations as a British citizen.”
10. Punishment by flogging for fornication, yes it is not just a backward Afghani Taliban thing, they are actually just following the edicts of Islam. An example of it as Allah says in An-Nur:
"As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement. .... And those who accuse free women then do not bring four witnesses, flog them, (giving) eighty stripes, and do not admit any evidence from them ever; and these it is that are the transgressors."
11. Sex slavery is permissible, as Allah says in Al-Nisa:
"And forbidden to you are wedded wives of other people except those who have fallen in your hands [as prisoners of war]"
12. The concept of munafiqs, the hypocrites, those who say they believe but don’t act accordingly. Basically, the moderate Muslims of today are classified under this. As said in At-Tawbah:
“Some of the nomads around you ˹believers˺ are hypocrites, as are some of the people of Medina. They have mastered hypocrisy. They are not known to you ˹O Prophet˺; they are known to Us. We will punish them twice ˹in this world˺, then they will be brought back ˹to their Lord˺ for a tremendous punishment.”
Actually, there is a whole Surah (Chapter) about them – Al Munafiqin. This is the main reason why it is hard to reform Islam:
“They have made their ˹false˺ oaths as a shield, hindering ˹others˺ from the Way of Allah. Evil indeed is what they do!”
“They are the enemy, so beware of them.”
“It is the same whether you pray for their forgiveness or not, Allah will not forgive them.”
13. Drinking alcohol is not permissible but in heaven you can for some reason. Sure.
As said in Surah Muhammad:
“The description of the Paradise promised to the righteous is that in it are rivers of fresh water, rivers of milk that never changes in taste, rivers of wine delicious to drink, and rivers of pure honey. There they will ˹also˺ have all kinds of fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord. ˹Can they be˺ like those who will stay in the Fire forever, left to drink boiling water that will tear apart their insides?”
Yes, Allah really hates non-believers – the punishment in hell for them is descriptive and vindictive.
However, in this world regarding drinking wine, as said in Hadith (and bit of an overkill) narrated by Abdul Darda:
“Allah has cursed alcohol, the one who drinks it, the one who pours it, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, the one squeezes (the grapes, etc), the one for whom it is squeezed, the one who carries it and the one to whom it is carried.”
